LeBron James Leads Lakers Past Jazz 90-83

The Los Angeles Lakers extended their win streak to three last night with a 90-83 win over the Utah Jazz. This is the best defensive game the Lakers have played all season. This is also the first time all season the Lakers have held an opponent to under 85 points. This game was all about which team had more heart and wanted it more. Luckily last night the Lakers did all the little things and came out on top.

Brandon Ingram led all scorers with 24 points. This is just the second time this season Ingram has scored at least 20. I had high expectations for Ingram this season. So far those expectations of Ingram being a 20 point per game scorer haven’t come into fruition. Ingram’s play going forward is going to determine just how far this team can go.

The Lakers defense was the story of the night. Utah was held to just 38.8% from the field. The Jazz also shot 4-23 from three. The Lakers also out rebounded the Jazz 47-41. Collectively, the Lakers shot a solid 45.6% from the floor. Last night was the type of game that I would expect the Lakers to lose. The Lakers have had catastrophic defensive fourth quarter collapses this season. However, the defense came to play last night and got a deserved victory.

Player of the Game: LeBron James

Obviously, LeBron James led the Lakers to victory last night. James finished with 22 points, 10 rebounds and 7 assists. James is currently third in the league in scoring, averaging 28.6 points per game. He’s also been playing at an MVP level as of late and why the Lakers are 7-1 in their last eight games. In year 16 of his legendary career, James has shown no signs of slowing down.

Looking Ahead:

The Lakers will be welcoming the Orlando Magic to Los Angeles on Sunday. Last time these two teams played, the Lakers were utterly embarrassed. James should be looking for some revenge this Sunday. The Lakers will also travel to Denver to face the Denver on Tuesday. On Thursday the 29th, the Lakers will be at home against the Indiana Pacers.

These are all very winnable games for the Lakers. This team understands how crucial seeding will be for them. With a roster full of young guys, it’s important for the Lakers to chase a top four seed. Earning home court advantage for at least one playoff series for this team is crucial.
