Survivor Series 2018 Final Match Card
When I say “final” match card, I use the term very loosely. Anything could happen at this point. The build up to Survivor Series 2018 has been very… Interesting. We’ve seen heel turns, injuries, title changes, and fans demanding certain Superstars quit the company all together.
This is a rare occurrence where the controversy surrounding the event is getting more attention than the show itself. Maybe WWE can capitalize on this new interest and put on a great show.
(Pre-Show) Tag Team 5-on-5 Tag Team Elimination Match: Team RAW (Roode & Gable, The Revival, The B-Team, Lucha House Party, and The Ascension) vs Team SmackDown Live (The Usos, The New Day, Sanity, The Club, and The Colons)
Team SmackDown Live looks pretty stacked compared to Team RAW. Roode and Gable won a battle royal to be named captains of Team RAW. The Usos defeated the New Day to earn their captain status.
With both teams set, who will earn their brand the first point?
WWE Cruiserweight Championship: Buddy Murphy (c) vs Mustafa Ali
This match is the only title match of the night.
Buddy Murphy won the Cruiserweight title in his home town during Super Show-Down this past October in a fantastic match against Cedric Alexander. Mustafa Ali, the “Heart of 205 Live“, looks to finally reach the top of the purple brand, after months of climbing his way to the top.
RAW Tag Team Champions vs SmackDown Tag Team Champions: AOP vs The Bar
AOP dominated Seth Rollins to capture their first main roster tag team titles. The Bar, with assistance from The Big Show, defeated The New Day to win their first SmackDown Tag Team Championships.
This match surely will test two powerhouse tag teams to see who has more strength and power.
Women’s 5-on-5 Tag Team Elimination Match: Team RAW (Mickie James, Nia Jax, Tamina, Natalya, and Ruby Riott) vs Team SmackDown Live (TBA, Carmella, Naomi, Asuka, and Sonya Deville)
How are you even supposed to take on Team RAW with only four people? So far, SmackDown Live General Manager Paige hasn’t announced a replacement for Charlotte yet.
Many fans speculate that this must mean Paige is returning for one more match to lead her brand to victory. Many news sites have also reported on the idea of the British woman returning to the ring.
Paige herself has shut down all rumors, however.
No, sadly, Paige will not be returning this Sunday. She will still have to pick the final member for team blue. If not, RAW will have an early advantage.
Men’s 5-on-5 Elimination Tag Team Match: Team RAW (Dolph Ziggler, Drew McIntyre, Braun Strowman, Finn Balor, and Bobby Lashley) vs Team SmackDown Live (The Miz, Samoa Joe, Jeff Hardy, Rey Mysterio, and Shane McMahon)
How can Team RAW possibly beat Team SmackDown Live when they have the “Best in the World” Shane O’Mac on their side?
All joking aside, this match should be very entertaining in terms of unpredictability. Every team has a mix of different fighting styles. You have the power houses like Strowman and Lashley. Submission based wrestlers like Samoa Joe. High flyers in Jeff Hardy and Rey Mysterio. Technically sound Superstars like The Miz and Dolph Ziggler. And wrestlers that aren’t really wrestlers at all, like Shane McMahon.
WWE Intercontinental Champion vs WWE United States Champion: Seth Rollins vs Shinsuke Nakamura
If these two are given at least twenty minutes, this match should be the best of the night. Dream match is too weak of a term to describe the kind of excitement fans have been feeling about seeing this match take place.
Two work horses going head to head for the very first time EVER? Should be nothing short of amazing.
Ronda Rousey vs Charlotte Flair
We have Nia Jax to thank for Charlotte stepping in for Becky Lynch. As we’ve already heard by now, Becky Lynch cannot compete at Survivor Series because of a concussion and broken nose. Lynch handpicked Flair to replace her.
Many thought that Flair vs Rousey would be Wrestle Mania’s first ever female main event. But it looks like Lynch vs Rousey could main event instead. If that happens, thank Nia Jax.
Universal Champion vs WWE Champion: Brock Lesnar vs Daniel Bryan
In a recent turn of events, Daniel Bryan was pulled from Team SmackDown Live. Luck would be on his side later that night when he defeated AJ Styles for the WWE Championship. Dastardly acts were used indeed, but we have this match now; Another first time ever for WWE and Survivor Series 2018.
