76ers Cool Down The Heat In Miami, Win 124-114

The Philadelphia 76ers had a strong showing against the Miami Heat last night. Two of their starters, plus four of their bench players, scored in double figures as the 76ers defeated the Miami Heat 124-114. As a result, it also gives them their second road win of the season.

They also have an opportunity to collect themselves and rest up before their new addition to their team arrives. Former Minnesota Timberwolves all-star Jimmy Butler will be joining the team on Wednesday for their next match up versus the Orlando Magic.

How The 76ers Got It Done Against The Heat

Joel Embiid added another notch to his belt by racking up yet another double double. The front runner in the MVP race had 35 points and 18 rebounds. Ben Simmons contributed 13 points of his own and distributed 7 assists. Mike Muscala, sporting a mask reminiscent of Halloween’s Michael Myers, slashed their defense in his return from injury.

He had 13 points, and nine of those points came from long range. JJ Redick (25 points) and Furkan Korkmaz (16 points) also had three 3-pointers a piece. Rookie sharpshooter Landry Shamet also gave the team some valuable minutes by providing two 3-pointers from beyond the arc.

Goran Dragic was the Heat’s top scorer with 22 points. Hassan Whiteside opted not to throw another block party (1 block), but still had a solid performance. He posted a double double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. Kelly Olynyk, Tyler Johnson and Wayne Ellington also scored in double figures. However, it just wasn’t enough for them to maintain their lead which they had during the first half.

The Butler did it…

The next stop for the 76ers will be a trip to Orlando to challenge the 6-8 Orlando Magic. This will be the debut of Jimmy Butler in a 76ers uniform. Will he be the catalyst for them to be able to continue their winning ways on the road? Or will he possibly clash with the 76ers young nucleus disrupting their chemistry and putting their strong playoff run hopes in doubt? Tune in tomorrow evening to find out what this new version of the 76ers is all about.
