Cowboys Save Their Season For Now

The Dallas Cowboys came up with a huge victory on Sunday night as they beat the Philadelphia Eagles 27-20. Both teams are two games out of first place in their division, and the Cowboys own the tiebreaker with one game left between them.

Dallas needed a huge game from its Pro Bowl running back, and that’s exactly what they got.

Dallas Showed Up

Zeke’s Big Night

Running back Ezekiel Elliott made his presence felt on Sunday night. He rushed for 151 yards on 19 carries and one touchdown. He also had six catches for 36 yards, a touchdown and add hurdling a defender to the list as well.

The Cowboys’ success is predicated on the legs of Elliott, and he came up big when they needed him to.

Dak Plays Smart

Quarterback Dak Prescott gave his team a chance to win by not turning the ball over. It’s something he rarely did his rookie season which helped them succeed so much two years ago.

His uncharacteristic turnovers this year haven’t helped matters, but he had a total of zero on Sunday night. He threw the ball for 270 yards on 26 of 36 attempts with one TD. He also ran for another one.

Eagles Come Up Short At Home

QB Carson Wentz threw for 360 yards on 32 of 44 attempts with two TDs. He also had one interception. Tight end Zach Ertz had a strong outing with 14 catches, 145 yards, and two TDs.

Unfortunately for them, they couldn’t get anything going in the running game. The team only produced 71 yards on the ground. Dallas had 100 more total rushing yards which allowed them to control the clock. The time of possession for Dallas was 33:22 while the Eagles had it for 26:38.

The defense played well enough against the pass, and it also recorded four sacks. They just couldn’t stop the run, and the offense couldn’t run the ball themselves. The defending champs are still in the hunt, but they are flirting with the reality of not making the playoffs.

Look Ahead

Neither team has an easy task next Sunday. The Cowboys will travel to Atlanta to take on the Falcons. After their convincing loss to the Browns on Sunday afternoon, they will come out strong to prove they deserve to be in the playoff picture.

The Eagles will travel to New Orleans to take on the league’s hottest team right now. The Saints are clicking on all cylinders and show no sign of letting up.
