Star Wars Battlefront 2 Releases Community Transmission Regarding Geonosis
Star Wars Battlefront 2’s biggest update to date is scheduled to come out on November 28th and the developers released a community transmission today, detailing the level design of Geonosis and the new AT-TE. The emphasis on Geonosis is its very open vehicular combat. The community transmission regarding Geonosis also details design elements creating a living world and a new sandstorm element.
The Phases
The galactic assault map will include 3 phases, the first being reactivating a damaged AT-TE. The first phase will take place in Geonosian canyons according to the transmission. This makes infantry forces the most useful in the first phase.
The second phase is titled Hardcell Troop Transport. The clones objective on this phase is to bring down two hardcell troop transports, while the droids will be tasked with defending these transports. Similar to walkers theses transports will need to be weakened by using the aforementioned AT-TE’s.
The 3rd and final phase is securing turbolasers. The clones will need to recapture abandoned turbolasers to take down a Droid Core Ship. This is done with a capture point, however, the difference here compared to other maps in the game is that this capture point can only be captured by AT-TEs.
Gameplay Differences
The community transmission regarding Geonosis also detailed some important gameplay differences. On the Geonosis map, the Droids will not have to use Ion Disrupters to damage AT-TEs instead they will have rocket launchers that can deal damage to them. These rocket launchers will not create a target on the player holding one making it more difficult to keep the AT-TEs protected.
AT-TEs will also not be available from the spawn screen, instead, these vehicles will be dropped onto the battlefield mid-match. Players will be able to take control of them as infantry units.
During the 2nd and 3rd phases, a sandstorm will breakout making visibility reduced and more chaotic. This should provide a new experience in Battlefront 2. Another new vehicle added in the update is the OG-9 Homing Spider Droid. These iconic droids will be making their way into the game. These will provide the droid team with another way to damage the AT-TEs.
The Transmission
The community transmission also provided a work in progress look of Obi-Wan Kenobi who is also arriving with this update later this month. The original transmission can be found here.
