The Celtics Stump The Red-Hot Pistons 109-89

Coming into Saturday’s contest, the Detroit Pistons had been 4-0. Star forward Blake Griffin is the biggest reason for the teams early success. However, the Boston Celtics cracked the code on this Pistons squad and their own offense. Boston was able to hold the Pistons under 90-points while keeping Griffin to just 7-points.

The big scoring of the game came from some unexpected suspects. Marcus Morris and Daniel Theis scored 18 and 17 respectively, and were the engine of this team. Furthermore, the defense was absolutely on point. Every player on the Celtics seemed locked in to getting the win.

Brad Stevens Breathes Life into His Guys

The last 5 Celtics games have been tough to watch as a fan. The team has come out with little to no effort, and no will to win. This is unlike last season where they gave it 110% every possession of every game. Saturday night they finally looked like that team again. This can be attributed to the leadership by head coach Brad Stevens. Stevens got his team to go out and buy into stopping Detroit’s frontcourt. Most importantly, even when up 20 the Celtics were going after every loose ball and rebound to secure the win.

Player of the Game: Marcus Morris

Our first back-to-back winner of the season goes to the unflappable Marcus Morris. The heart of the Celtics bench has really been turning it up lately. He had 18 points, 8 boards, and hit 3-pointers while playing stellar defense. Being the engine for this team isn’t easy, but Morris is as sure a thing as anyone else.

Honorable Mention: Daniel Theis

A Look Forward to the Next Game

The Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons have their rematch in TD Garden Monday night. I predict that it will be more of the same as the Celtics hand Detroit a good ol’ fashion Boston beatdown.
