Boston Celtics Mount 16-Point Comeback Against the Thunder

The Boston Celtics were down 50-34 going into halftime against the Oklahoma City Thunder last night. It seemed like the Celtics were going to drop a second game in a row, and fall below 500. However, they woke up in the third quarter. Behind Al Horford and Kyrie Irving heating up from three, the Celtics scored 40 points going into the fourth.

In the closing minutes, the Celtics locked the Thunder down on defense, and hit clutch shots down the stretch. The biggest shot was the three pointer from Marcus Morris, who put the game out of reach. As a result of that, the Thunder would implode, and the Celtics escaped 101-95.

The Momentum Boston Needed

Although the Celtics had a rough first half, the offense finally showed life in the second half. As a result, the starters finally got into a rhythm, and they looked unstoppable. Boston has the kind of team where the opponents lead is never safe. With this win, I expect them to come out swinging hard against the Detroit Pistons.

Furthermore, I hope this finally gives Jaylen Brown the confidence he needs. He hasn’t been himself so far this season. Besides some incredible dunks, his all around game has been missing. Celtics coach Brad Stevens will work off this win to get Brown more involved next game.

Player of the Game: Marcus Morris

Morris hit the biggest shot of the game to go along with his 21 points. Morris’ work on the boards is where he made a big impact. For a team struggling to secure rebounds, he came in and owned the glass. With this being said, Morris will have a good chance to start against the Pistons on Saturday.

Honorable Mention: Jayson Tatum

A Look Forward to the Next Game

The Celtics will take on the Pistons in Detroit on Saturday night. Detroit has had a red hot 4-0 start to the season, so this will be a statement game for the Celtics. Hopefully, big man Aron Baynes will be ready to play (right hamstring) to go up against the Pistons’ dynamic frontcourt. It should be prime time television and an instant classic.
