33-Year-Old Leads the NHL in Scoring This Week
The National Hockey League announced that Boston Bruins forward Patrice Bergeron has been named the NHL First Star of the Week, for the week ending October 14. This announcement came out on October 15.
In the last three games, Bergeron scored nine points. Four goals, five assists. Additionally, the Boston Bruins centerman has a plus-five rating. In the same games, Patrice Bergeron helped to propel the Boston Bruins to three wins out of the three games. Bergeron helped improve the Bruins’ record to 4-1-0 (eight points). Not bad for second place in the Atlantic Division.
Bergeron kicked off the week by obtaining his fourth career hat trick in the home opener in Boston against the Ottawa Senators. The game was held on October 8th. This was the sixth time in the franchise’s history that a Boston Bruin scored a hat trick in a home opener game. Patrice Bergeron is now joining Carson Cooper (1926-27), Phil Esposito (1973-74), Rick Middleton (1976-77) and Cam Neely (1994-95 and 1995-96). During Boston’s 4-1 win against the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday, October 11 scored one goal and one assist. He did so in a season-high 19:08 time on ice. Finishing up the week, the 33-year-old tallied a season-high three assists. Said season high was obtained during the Bruins’ 8-2 win against the Detroit Red Wings on Saturday, October 13. During this game, fellow Bruin David Pastrnak obtained his second career hat trick, in addition to scoring his 100th NHL career goal.
Bergeron’s Career Thus Far
So far, Bergeron has played in 968 NHL games, totaling 294 goals and 451 assists for 745 points.
