Markelle Fultz To Enter 76ers Starting Lineup This Season

Get used of seeing more of the Philadelphia 76ers first overall pick from 2017, Markelle Fultz, who is looking to show people this season that he belongs in the NBA. It likely will mean the 76ers will be moving Ben Simmons to either small or power forward. However, this statement may only ring true during the first half for the 76ers if sixth year Head coach Brett Brown has his way.

Setting it off for the 76ers in the second half was thirteen year marksman JJ Redick. When Redick is paired with the 76ers starting five, a deadly combination is formed. They’ve been able to outscore opponents by a collective 268 points.

When questioned about the recent move, Brown made it clear to the media. During their preseason finale in China against the Dallas Mavericks, his recent shuffling had nothing to do with Fultz’s foul trouble. It was based upon his efficiency when the ball is in his possession.

Markelle Fultz Looks To Put His Struggles In Preseason Play Behind Him

Preseason was not too kind to the second year guard from the University of Washington. He finished with an average of 9.0 points per game on 42 percent shooting. He was only capable of sinking one of his five three point attempts. Fultz had an equal amount of assists and turnovers (10). On the contrary, coach Brown does not appear too deterred by his showings. He realizes that at age 20, he still has plenty of room for growth. He also recognizes a silver lining with his propensity for playing defense.

Fultz feels more confident both from a mental and physical perspective to begin his campaign towards the 2018-19 most improved player award. On October 16th, the 76ers will face off against the Boston Celtics, who come into the season as the favorites in the Eastern Conference in Boston. Who will walk away with the win?
