About Wendell Moore
Wendell Moore is a 6’5″, 210 pound small forward in the class of 2019. The wing is from Concord, North Carolina and attends Cox Mill High School. 247 Sports has Moore ranked as the nations 23rd ranked player, while listed as the number six ranked player at his position, small forward. The 17-year-old has an above average athleticism and a 6-foot 11-inch wingspan.
What Will He Bring To Duke?
Wendell Moore’s most useful attribute is his defense. It is safe to say that he is among the best defenders in the class of 2019. While at Duke, expect Moore to start and play meaningful minutes straight out of the gate in non-conference play. With his lateral quickness, there is no doubt that Moore can guard any player in the country at his position. Offensively, Moore’s best attribute is cutting to the basket. Around the rim, he is a well above average finisher and in transition, he can run all game long. As a passer, Moore is solid and while he does have room to improve in this aspect, he is where he needs to be based on his age and position.
Room For Improvement?
The biggest area of growth Moore needs is his scoring and shooting ability. The winger is best categorized as a slightly below average three-point shooter. Though not a superstar scorer right now, the upside is there and a freshman season at Duke will easily ensure that he becomes a far better three-point shooter and overall scorer.
Who Is Next?
A week ago, knowledgeable Duke fans became worried about Duke and their 2019 class. All of their targets committed elsewhere, leaving Duke with a zero in the 2019 recruiting class. Now, Duke can look to Vernon Carey the number two player in 247 Sports’ class of 2019, or Isaiah Stewart, the number 5 recruit in the class of 2019, as their next possible big time commitment.
