NFL Week 4: Bills vs. Packers Recap
Plenty of teams came away disappointed as NFL Week 4 comes to an end. One of those teams are the Buffalo Bills. After a surprising upset in Week 3 against the Minnesota Vikings, Bills fans were ready to take on another NFC North team. But it didn’t go as planned.
The Bills headed to Lambeau Field with their heads held high. The Packers just came off a disappointing loss against the Washington Redskins and were ready to head home. The last time Green Bay lost a home game in September was Week 1 against the San Francisco 49ers in 2012.
Green Bay wasn’t on top of their game but still managed to shutout the Bills 22-0. This is Green Bay’s third full-game shut out since 2008. The defense stepped up coming away with two interceptions and six sacks.
This could be because the Packers hired ex-Browns coach Mike Pettine as their new defensive coordinator and decided to switch things up. It seems to be working well. The Packers defense was ranked 25th last season and has moved up the ladder all the way to number eight.
Packers quarterback Aaron Rodgers had still been having trouble with his knee, but you wouldn’t be able to tell the way he was running to get first downs and maneuvering in the pocket. Rodgers had five carries for 31 yards. The Bills defense did have one take away.
Safety Jordan Poyer ended Rodgers’ streak of 150 straight completions without an interception.
Bills QB Josh Allen looked like the rookie that he is. He threw two interceptions and tied the record for most incomplete passes in a row with former NFL QB Doug Flutie. The Bills were unable to get any type of game going. Buffalo only counted for 209 yards of total offense, 58 rushing and 151 receiving.
