West Ham United vs Manchester United Preview

Manchester United travel to the London stadium today ahead of a must-win clash against in-form West Ham.

Additionally, the Red Devil’s are coming off the back of a bad patch domestically. A draw at home to Wolves and a defeat to Derby has left the Reds in disarray.

Can’t Be a Hammering

Standing in the way of Mourinho’s men is the rejuvenated West Ham. After a bad start to the season, in which the hammers lost their first 4 league games, they have returned to form. Wins against Everton and a draw against Chelsea has boosted the Hammers. Manuel Pelligrini has deployed Declan Rice as a defensive midfielder, a decision which has proved a stroke of genius in recent weeks. The form of Andriy Yarmalenko and Austrian striker Marko Arnautovic has proved vital for the Claret and Blue. Pellegrini will be hoping to get a win over Man United for the love and adulation of the City fans, the club he won the Premier League with. West Ham comes into this game off the back of an 8-0 win against Macclesfield in the cup on Tuesday.

Can Jose turn it around?

All eyes will be on United’s result here. The Red’s are on a real downward spiral, and the past week has pushed them further towards the brink. Footage of Mourinho and Pogba’s argument was spread across smartphones and TV’S worldwide, and it painted a real picture of distress in the United camp. Mourinho has stated that the argument was nothing compared to what usually takes place at Carrington.

“Was not the case but loud critic, loud instruction happens every day, coaching is about that but you make story about it, so I’m happy the rules are only 15 minutes once a month and situations like that are not going to change, there is no chance you will watch a session.”

It was a strong conference by Mourinho, who also stressed how well Pogba has trained this week.

I’m happy with his work this week, really happy, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday especially because today was not so significant but he trained really well, the team needs good players, players with personality to play, he has and he plays tomorrow.

Predicted starting line-ups

Man United: De Gea, Valencia, Bailly, Smalling, Shaw, Matic, Fred, Pogba, Martial, Lukaku, Sanchez.

West Ham: Fabianski, Zabaleta, Balbuena, Diop, Masuaku, Rice, Obiang, Noble, Yarmalenko, Arnautovic, Anderson.
