Chelsea vs Liverpool Preview. Revenge On The Cards?
Chelsea will take on Liverpool for the second time in a week as the Reds travel to London in search of revenge. Chelsea knocked Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup midweek courtesy of a late stunner by Eden Hazard. Both teams were fielding relatively weakened sides. Liverpool started with a completely different than the one Jurgen Klopp fields in the Premier League. Though Liverpool had their chances Chelsea managed to scrape through at Anfield.
The Premier League game on Saturday however will be a much tastier affair. Chelsea and Liverpool are both unbeaten in the league so far. Liverpool are the only team who have maintained their 100 per cent winning record with six wins out of six. Chelsea have picked up five wins and a draw. A win would mean Maurizio Sarri’s Chelsea would overtake Liverpool by one point and go top of the table.
Squad Updates
Chelsea certainly have more injury woes than they would like. Andreas Christensen, Antonio Rudiger and Pedro Rodriguez have all suffered minor injuries.
Liverpool however have confirmed that Georginio Wijnaldum and Trent Alexander- Arnold are fit to play. However, the unfortunate news for Liverpool is that center back Virgil Van Dijk remains doubtful. Although there is good news as Croatian Dejan Lovren has returned from injury.
Ones To Watch
The home side can rely upon their talisman Eden Hazard who has been in sparkling form and not to forget scored a wonder-goal in midweek to knock Liverpool out of the Carabao Cup. They can also look forward to Marcos Alonso who bosses the flank from left back.
Liverpool once more have their devastating attack to count on consisting of Roberto Firmino, Sadio Mane and Mohammed Salah. Salah has not quite hit his stride yet this season but it is only a matter of time. He will surely come back into the starting lineup as he was on the bench in midweek.
