Week 4 Preview: Buffalo Bills vs Green Bay Packers

The season has started going downhill for the Green Bay Packers, but can they turn it around in Week 4? Things seem to finally be looking up for Bills rookie Josh Allen and his team, but will they able to carry the momentum? The NFL’s Week 4 has ten games scheduled for 1 p.m. EST. How do you know which one to watch? Well, the Bills heading to Lambeau Field seems like the one to tune in for.

Week 3 Recap

The Bills were the underdogs last week against Minnesota, yet they completely shut out the Vikings until the fourth quarter. Josh Allen showed his skills on the field by running for a touchdown on the first drive. Does this prove that Allen should be feared despite being a rookie? It would certainly seem so. Above all to consider with the young quarterback is his stat line of 15/22 passing for 196 yards and a touchdown. The Buffalo defense was the true star of the game, though, holding a tough Vikings offense to just six points all game. The Bills were able to push through Minnesota’s tough o-line as well, sacking Kirk Cousins four times.

The Redskins, meanwhile, were also underdogs at home following a surprising blowout loss to the Colts in Week 2. Immediately, though, Washington showed the Packers that they remain a team to beat, even after a blowout. Adrian Peterson scored two rushing touchdowns in the first the half and Alex Smith threw for 220 yards, two touchdowns, and an interception. Green Bay was never able to catch up, with Aaron Rodgers unable to pull off the comeback Packer fans hoped for.

Week 4 Preview

Will the Bills be able to sustain their momentum and find a rhythm in Green Bay? It’s possible. Josh Allen proved that when he is on fire, Buffalo’s offense is a threat. He leads the team in rushing, the first rookie QB to do that since Parker Hall in 1939 for the Cleveland Browns. But they’re going into Rodgers’ territory. The Packers haven’t lost a home game in September since Week 1 in 2012. Rodgers is still having trouble with his left knee, seeing limited action in practice this week. Over the past few weeks, however, Rodgers has only been present for practice on Saturdays. Does this mean things are looking up? Maybe the Bill should be worried.

The game could really go either way. Packers WR Randall Cobb dropped two passes on third down last week. Fellow receiver Devante Adams dropped a key pass on fourth down. This pattern is unlike them or any player on the Packers. Geronimo Allison has come up with a 40+ yard touchdown reception two weeks in a row now and has fit in well with Green Bay’s style of offense. Despite running back Aaron Jones returning to the field last week, though, it didn’t make the difference they were hoping for against the Vikings.

If the Bills win, they will record their fifth straight win against NFC North teams. The Packers just signed cornerback Bashed Breeland, hoping to boost their banged-up secondary. This game, Green Bay will be more focused on whether can Rodgers get past the Bills’ eleventh-ranked defense. The Bills’ D is also ranked number one in the NFL for most QB pressures, so Rodgers should anticipate being forced to throw early. Fortunately for him, though, he’s surrounded by talented receivers. Davante Adams leads the league in receiving touchdowns (25) since 2016 and will be ready to go against the Bills secondary.

Conclusion

Each side has something to look out for and it will surely be a good matchup this Sunday at Lambeau Field. The Packers are second in the NFC North and will look to reclaim the lead this week, but can they pull it off? Or will the Bills level them like they did to division rival Minnesota Vikings last week?
