Missouri Basketball Player Arrested for D.U.I.
20-year old redshirt sophomore Mitchell Smith saw himself going to jail on Sunday, caught driving under the influence (DUI) at 3:35 a.m. Smith was able to leave the county jail on a $500 bond, as he was also caught driving with a suspended/revoked license. The arrest took place in Columbia, Missouri which is located in Boone County.
Missouri released a statement:
“Per Mizzou Athletics’ department policy, Mitchell has been suspended from team activities for a minimum of one week.”
Can confirm as @Dave_Matter reported #Mizzou basketball player Mitchell Smith was arrested for DWI. Team spokesman says he has been suspended from team activities for at least one week.

With the team beginning practice this week, Smith can’t participate due to the school’s one-week suspension policy. Suffering an injury in 2017, Smith hasn’t seen most of the last two seasons. Despite joining the team under a different head coach in 2016, Smith was in the running to see plenty of playing time this season.
A season ago, Smith saw the court in 13 different games. The most playing time he saw on the court last year was 15 minutes in a game against Arizona. Smith would finish with a total of five points, two rebounds, and a block.
This marks the second Missouri Tiger from the men’s basketball program to get caught driving under the influence over the last six months. Jordan Barrett saw himself missing an NCAA Tournament game due to a D.U.I. arrest in March.
