Dallas Cowboys vs Seattle Seahawks Preview

The Cowboys are looking for back-to-back wins after defeating division foes, the New York Giants, last week. Surprisingly, Seattle is looking for its first win of the season. An 0-3 start almost certainly won’t land them in the playoffs.

Week 2 Recap

The Cowboys hosted the Giants last Sunday, and their defense held them to just 13 points. After rushing for over 100 yards in week 1, Saquon Barkley was held to a putrid 28 yards against Dallas. That is a good sign for a defense that has struggled over the past few years. So far this season, they’ve only given up 29 points. The defense also recorded 6 sacks. On offense, Dak Prescott wasn’t statistically impressive, but he was efficient. He went 16-25 for 160 yards passing with one touchdown. He also ran the ball 7 times for 45 yards. The most important stat is that he didn’t turn the ball over. Ezekiel Elliott ran the ball 17 times for 78 yards and one touchdown. They also found a way to get WR Tavon Austin involved as well. He had 2 catches for 79 yards and one touchdown.

Seattle put up a valiant effort against the Bears, but it wasn’t enough as they lost by one touchdown. Russell Wilson threw the ball for 226 yards on 22 of 36 attempts. He had two touchdowns to go along with one interception. Wilson was also sacked six times. The committee of running backs could only gain 74 yards. To be fair, they did have to contend with a Bears defense led by Khalil Mack.

Week 3 Preview

While the Cowboys offense wasn’t too impressive last week, I look for them to get in a groove this Sunday. They should continue to feed Zeke the ball. He needs at least 22 carries per game for them to have a consistent chance of winning each week. They’re going to need to keep Tavon Austin engaged as well. He has play-making ability they so desperately need on offense. Prescott will need to take advantage of a depleted Seattle defense. That means taking shots down the field and running when the opportunity presents itself.

Seattle has struggled defensively, but they will be at home. It is a very tough place to play. The 12th man will definitely be in full effect. It will be very loud early on, and they’re going to need to take advantage of it. Russell Wilson will try to work his magic to gain a win they really need. It’s a team full of pride, and they will definitely rise to the occasion. This will be a hard fought battle, but I don’t see Seattle’s defense being good enough to get the job done.
