Green Bay Packers vs Washington Redskins Preview

After coming off of a disappointing tie against the Minnesota Vikings, the Green Bay Packers are ready to step up and head to Washington. The Washington Redskins are looking to bounce back after their blowout at home against the Indianapolis Colts in Week 3.

Week 2 Recap

The Packers faced the Vikings in Lambeau Field last week. QB Aaron Rodgers played on a bum knee, but still hit some throws that live up to Packer fans’ expectations. Big controversy came from this game when ILB Clay Mathews got called for roughing the passer late in the fourth quarter causing QB Kirk Cousins and the Vikings to move down the field where they kick a field goal to go to OT. Most argued that the penalty was wrong, but the NFL came out after the game saying the call was correct. Over time was upsetting for the Vikings since they blew the game missing two field goals.

On the other hand, the Redskins only scored nine points against the Colts at home. The Colts came out swinging with a touchdown on the opening drive. QB Alex Smith threw for 292 yards but had no touchdown passes. A lost a fumble and a missed field goal in the third quarter threw off the rhythm for the Redskins.

Week 3 Preview

Rodgers will head to Washington with an injured knee, but his offensive line is healthy and so is his receiving core. This game will be Rodgers and the Packers offense versus the Redskins top ranked defense. The Redskins have blitzed quarterbacks on 36.8% of their defensive snaps, which is fourth in the NFL. They have also only allowed the third fewest amount of big plays.

But the Redskins offense has been inefficient averaging only 16.5 points per game. While the Packers offense is the complete opposite. WR Devante Adams leads the NFL in touchdowns since 2016 with 24. Rodgers has four touchdown passes this season while Smith only has two.

The Packers defense has not always stepped up the plate, but this season they’ve been clutch while contributing with six sacks, a fumble recovery, and an interception.

This match up will be a good one and the game to watch in Week 3.
