Duke Freshman Draft Predictions

Zion Williamson

One could argue that Duke freshman Zion Williamson is the most athletic basketball player in NCAA college basketball history. NBA scouts love athletic players. Take Hamidou Diallo as an example. He had an average season at Kentucky a year ago but was picked in the second round of the NBA Draft. Scouts said that based on his pure athleticism, he would be a lock to get drafted. Zion Williamson is even more athletic that Diallo and has a far better skillset. In my opinion, Williamson is a top 10 lock, likely going in the top three. If I were a betting man, I’d place my money on Zion Williamson going at three in the 2019 NBA Draft.

RJ Barrett

Easily the most talented freshman in the country, RJ Barrett has the keys to be the first pick in the draft. The Canadian has played with NBA pros for the Canadian National team and been their number one option. That is certainly not something you can say about any other freshman in the country. I don’t think there has ever been a more complete freshman than Barrett and I predict that he goes at number one in the 2019 NBA Draft.

Cam Reddish

Cam Reddish will be the Duke Blue Devils least talked about freshman this season. This is not a good thing for Blue Devil opponents, because he is scary good. Likely Duke’s best shooter, Reddish is also a very well rounded player. Though he is quiet and humble, Reddish will make a ton of noise with scouts, likely being a top-five pick in the draft. In the 2019 NBA Draft, I predict Cam Reddish goes second overall.

Tre Jones

With Tre Jones being a point guard, it is likely that he won’t get much love from draft scouts. He isn’t a flashy player, but he will distribute the ball with ease and score when needed. Once Duke begins the season, you’ll be reminded of his brother, Tyus Jones’ game while at Duke. I predict he will be taken with the 29th pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
