Baltimore Ravens Fined $200,000 For ‘Foul Play’

It seemed that after the C.J. Mosley injury, things couldn’t get worse for the Baltimore Ravens. However, we stand corrected. For violations in the NFL Preseason, the Ravens were fined $200,000.

These violations stemmed from multiple players wearing helmets with coach-to-player communication capabilities. Moreover, this isn’t the first time the Ravens have had violations regarding the offseason.

Ravens OTAs

A fine was also give to the Ravens in June. However, in this occasions it stemmed from offseason workout rules violations. The Ravens forfeited their final two organized team activities as a result of the violations.

This led to fines handed down to owner Steve Biscotti ($100,000) and coach John Harbaugh ($50,000). Newsome and Harbaugh agreed, “the difficulty younger players have adapting to practice pass-coverage rules” was to blame for the infraction.

Thin Ice

The Ravens escaped mostly unscathed after the June infraction. However, this team has now become a repeat offender. The latest Ravens fine should set some things into perspective.

Unfortunately, the Ravens’ organization has had a track record of not abiding by many league rules in recent memory. Continued infractions will only make matters worse for this organization. Baltimore has been hit with over $700,000 in fines over the past two years—and if any other violations surface, we may see harsher results.
