Pedro Strop Out For Rest Of 2018 Season

Last night, while running to first base, Cubs relief pitcher Pedro Strop tore his hamstring. Additionally, he will be out for the rest of the 2018 season.  This is a big loss for the Cubs. Strop was pitching very well and was shutting down teams from the pen.  On a Cubs team that is about to go into the playoffs, he will be missed for the Cubs playoff run.

They will now have to rely on other guys in the pen such as Brandon Morrow, Steve Cishek, Carls Edwards Jr., and others.  But Strop will be missed.  They let him bat because he was doing so good.  However, this is where he got hurt as he was trying to beat out the throw.  Believe me, Pedro Strop will be missed, but the Cubs have guys behind them, they will survive, at least until October.

The Cubs Bullpen in October

So, the teams that the Cubs might be playing in the first round of the playoffs.  Including, but not limited to: Phillies, Braves, Dodgers, Brewers, Cardinals, and Rockies.  All of these teams can hit, so the bullpen will be needed. In addition, Strop will not be in that pen to help.  But you can have Carl Edwards take the 7th inning, have Cishek take the 8th inning, and have Morrow close it out in the 9th.

That’s not a problem, but any where before that may be.  The Cubs pen after those three guys is Mike Montgomery, and that might be it.  The starters are going to need to be solid if they want to win, because they will need to use as little bullpen as possible.  But the Cubs should be fine.  I can see them at least getting past the NLDS. Maybe even the NLCS, but the World Series, its anyone’s game!
