PSG Wants Zinedine Zidane Should Thomas Tuchel Fail
Madrid, Spain – Former Real Madrid manager Zinedine Zidane wants to return to coaching again. Amid the rumors of the dispatch of Jose Mourinho from Manchester United, French side PSG has also jumped into the mix.
Zidane walked away, once again in his career, from a very lucrative and comfortable place, Santiago Bernabeu. Nevertheless, this after winning three consecutive UEFA Champions League trophies with Los Blancos, an act never done before.
Despite this, he claimed wanting to take a sabbatical and be away from the game. However, Speaking to TVE he hopes to return soon:
“Certainly I’ll be coaching again soon because it’s what I like doing and what I’ve done all my life,” said Zidane.
United has been knocking at his door for quite some time. However, the Manchester administration has given a vote of confidence for the also three-time winner of the UEFA Champions League. The Red Devils have been under heavy-pressure since the beginning of the 2018-19 campaign. Even so, that Mourinho has been rather annoyed by the media in his latest media confrontations.
“Just to finish, do you know what was the result?” he said, indicating his digits. “3-0, 3-0. Do you know what this is? 3-0. But it also means three Premierships and I won more Premierships alone than the other 19 managers together. Three for me and two for them two [Pep Guardiola and Manuel Pellegrini]. For many is only a matter of time before Mourinho gets sacked and for Zidane to replace him. However, another door has openned for the French strategist.
PSG Welcomes Zidane
Eduardo Inda in his intervention in El Chiringuito de Jugones said that PSG have held ongoing conversations with Zidane to take over the club. Sheik Nasser Al-Khelaifi has always had the desire of hiring Zidane for the club, to the point of giving a blank check to take over the reigns of the club but Zidane has refused.
“PSG spoke with him this summer. He probed and told him that if the bet on Tuchel does not work and he does not reach the Champions League semifinals, they would like to have him. If he can, he will throw the rest for Zidane for next season, said Inda”
Now that the Frenchman is available, Al-Khelaifi has made contacts again. PSG has never been able to go beyond the quarterfinals in the competitions and have at least longed for semifinals. This while with several coaches such as Carlo Anchelotti and Unai Emery.
The Parisians feel that Zidane is the essential piece that the club needs to make a quality jump to success. In addition, he would be the most appropriate person to help mold youngsters such as Neymar Jr. and Kylian Mbappé.
It is rather unfortunately for German Tuchel, but it seems like his job is on the line should he not get to the semifinals this season.
Nevertheless, for Zidane, the Manchester United job has his name all over it.
