The Los Angeles Chargers Reach A Deal With Antonio Gates
Looks like the “Super Chargers” finally have some news that isn’t an injury. As reported by ESPN’s NFL Insider Adam Schefter, sure-fire Hall of Famer Antonio Gates has reached an agreement with the Los Angeles Chargers to return for his 16th season. While the team’s’ goal was to get the deal done before camp, veteran Antonio Gates has had enough camps in the past decade and a half that he should be just fine.
Gates was limited to only 30 catches and 316 yards in 2017 due to the increased role of former Razorback Hunter Henry. However, Henry tore his ACL in May, leaving an open void in the depth chart at the tight end position.

The “Dynamic Duo”
Gates and Chargers quarterback Philip Rivers have made nothing short of history together during their time as Chargers. Rivers and Gates have 87 touchdown connections between them, which is the most in NFL history between a QB-TE duo. With nothing but space and opportunity and the position for LA.
Gates could start Week 1 even after missing camp. This duo has shown how special they can be when they’re on the same page. Look for Gates to provide a spark to a position that needs it.
