Rob Gronkowski’s New Deal
The New England Patriots and star tight end Rob Gronkowski have come to an agreement on a revised contract per @RosenhausSports.
According to Adam Schefter, Gronkowski will have $4.3 million added to his contract in 2018. This is broken down into $1 million in per game bonuses along with a further $3.3 million in incentives. This will boost Gronk’s total 2018 salary to a potential $13.05 million.
Rob Gronkowski will need to reach three out of the four incentives in order to secure the extra $3.3 million worked into his contract. Gronkowski’s incentives are $1.1 million for 70 or more catches. $1.1 million for achieving 80 percent playing time. $1.1 million for nine or more TD catches and $1.1 million for 1,085 receiving yards for a total maximum of $3.3 million.

While Gronkowski’s contract has now been reworked for the 2018 season to include additional earnings, he still has two years remaining on his original contract.
Rob Gronkowski has been injury prone during the last few years of his NFL career. Missing two regular season games in 2017 and eight games during the 2016 season. The incentives in his reworked contract agreement will only be achievable should he be able to stay healthy.
The 2017 season saw Gronk have 69 receptions for 1,084 receiving yards. He averaged 15.7 yards per reception with eight receiving TDs. Gronkowski has long been an offensive weapon for the Patriots. The offseason saw many of New England’s core WR group move on to other teams. As a result, he will be called upon more than ever this upcoming season.
Rob Gronkowski now can earn $1.1 million for 70 or more catches, $1.1M for 80 percent playtime, $1.1M for nine or more TD catches, $1.1M for 1,085 receiving yards. He can make three of those four, boosting salary another $3.3M. Base salary remains 8M. Still has two years left.

Offseason Drama
The offseason saw the rumor mill go into overdrive surrounding Gronk and contract negotiations with the Patriots. With Gronkowski not attending parts of preseason training, some believed there may be trouble in paradise at New England.
However, it is not uncommon for some veteran players not to attend early sessions of preseason workout as they are in fact voluntary. There were also reports that the Patriots were allegedly shopping Gronk around to potential teams, which both Gronkowski and the Patriots were quick to quash.
