Premier League: Best Transfers Of Summer 2018

The 2018-19 Premier League season underway here is a look at best transfer activity during the summer as the clubs attempted to strengthen their squads.

Lucas Torreira:

The midfielder, who featured in all five of Uruguay’s games at the World Cup, will be an integral member in Arsenal’s midfield and will help shore up their leaky defense. He was signed from Sampdoria for 30 Million euros and looks like a fine investment for the present and the future.

Jorginho:

Signed from Napoli for 57 million pounds snatching him from right under Manchester City’s noses. He arrived as the first signing of Maurizio Sarri’s reign as Chelsea Manager. Many say he has already justified his hefty price tag, having made the most passes in the Premier League after 3 games.

Mateo Kovacic:

Brought in by Chelsea to partner Jorginho in the centre of the park as the box to box dynamic presence is Mateo Kovacic. He arrives at Chelsea from Real Madrid on a Season-Long loan deal. He has looked impressive in the 2 Substitute appearances he has made. But worryingly for Chelsea, there is no purchase option in the loan deal and what the future holds only time will tell.

Kepa Arrizabalega:

Chelsea acquired the services of the now former Athletic Club for a World Record fee of 72 Million Pounds for a goalkeeper.
Kepa was bought in the Transfer deadline day as Courtois was sold to Real Madrid. He signs a seven-year contract with the blues. He made 50 La Liga appearances and earned himself a place in the Spain Squad for 2018 World Cup.

Richarlison:

Bought from Watford for 40 Million Pounds. The Brazilian Forward penned a contract through till 2023. He has scored 3 goals in the first three games of the season and looks to be going from strength to strength under former boss Marco Silva. His performances have impressed Brazil boss Tite who has called him up to the Brazil Squad for the September friendlies.

Yerry Mina:

After a whole summer of speculation, Yerry Mina found a new club in the blue half of Merseyside. He joins The Toffees in a deal reported to be 30 Million Euros. The 23-year-old scored three goals at the World Cup and was linked with a variety of clubs throughout the summer before signing with Everton.

Andre Gomes:

In the deal that Bought Mina to Everton also bought Portugal International Andre Gomes to Goodison Park. He will spend a season-long loan deal at the club. Everton paid 2.25 Million Euros to land him from Barcelona on loan, while they will also pay his wages.

Jean Michael Seri:

Newly Promoted Fulham signed the 26-year-old amid interest from Chelsea and Arsenal. It is thought the deal cost around 30 Million Euros. He arrives on a 4-year contract. He has started the season in good form having assisted one and scoring an absolute banger against Burnley.

The one-time Premier League Champion arrives from Borrusia Dortmund on a two-year loan deal. He is one among many signings Fulham have made splashing out 100 Million Pounds on 12 signings.

Fabinho:

The Brazilian Midfielder put pen to paper signing a long-term contract with the Reds keeping him at the club for many years to come. He arrives for 45 Million Euros from AS Monaco having lifted the League 1 Title in 2017. He is one of 4 signings Liverpool have made in the offseason.

Naby Keita:

The Reds paid a premium on top of his release clause of 48 Million Pounds last summer. After staying with RB Leipzig for the 17/18 season he finally arrives at Liverpool too much fanfare being given the famous Number. 8 Jersey by the previous occupant and Club Legend Steven Gerard.

Liverpool paid a club record 65 Million Pounds for the now ex-Roma Goalkeeper. After the costly errors of goalkeeper Karius cost Liverpool deeply in the Champions League Final. He arrives on a six-year deal. Alisson has started off impressively with 3 clean sheets of 3 games. He is good with the ball at his feet and is a commanding figure in his box.

Riyad Mahrez:

After seeing a bid for him rejected on deadline day in the winter transfer window, Man City came in for him in the summer and made the 27-year-old their first major signing of the summer. The deal completed is thought to be worth 60 Million Pounds. Having won the PFA Player of the Year Award in 2016 after Leicester City’s Fairytale Premier League triumph, He has been hot property. And after 2 seasons of waiting, he finally got his move.

Fred:

Manchester United completed the signing of Fred after defeating Manchester City to him. He arrives at Old Trafford after 5 years playing for Shakhtar Donetsk. The 25-year-old impressed many with his performances in the Champions League last season. He is one of three signings made by the Red Devils. The Brazilian signed a five-year deal which includes a club option for a further 12 months upon its expiry.

Jack Wilshere:

West Ham managed to tie down the Midfielder to a 3-year contract on a free transfer from Arsenal. Hammers boss Manuel Pellegrini and director of football Mario Husillos signed off on the move for the 26-year-old. The England International has 34-caps for the Three Lions. He will give much-needed dynamism in the centre of the park for the Hammers provided he can stay fit.

Felipe Anderson:

The London side broke their transfer record for the second time in the summer after luring the attacking midfielder away from Italy. West Ham announced the signing of Felipe Anderson from Lazio, with the deal expected to cost them £33.5 million. The attacking midfielder has signed a four-year deal with the Premier League club after spending five seasons in Serie A, where he scored 25 goals and set up 28 in 137 league appearances.

Rui Patricio:

Wolves were quick to snap up the Portuguese International following his resignation from Sporting Lisbon. The 30-year-old, penned a four-year contract with a side preparing for life back in the Premier League. Patricio made 460 appearances for Sporting and kept 179 clean sheets, winning the Taca de Portugal twice and the Taca da Liga this past season.

Joao Moutinho:

Possibly the biggest coup of the season, Joao Moutinho signed for Wolves from AS Monaco for a poultry 5 Million Pounds. The Portugal international left Stade Louis II after five years and committed to a two-year contract with the ambitious Premier League new boys. He has made three appearances for Wolves and has made one assist.
