Kyle Hendricks Shuts Down Reds Offense Giving Up Just Two Hits

Hendo was more than amazing in his start today especially considering the weather conditions and the offense he was facing. Kyle Hendricks shuts down Reds offense on a hot and muggy day in Chicago. While the offense beat up on Reds Starter, Homer Baily who gave up six runs but only three earned. Daniel Murphy records his fourth consecutive multi-hit game. And the Cubs sweep the Reds at home in Chicago in a four-game series for the first time since 1945. There was a lot that happened in today’s game, and all of it is good.

Kyle Hendricks Dominates The Dangerous Reds Offense

Kyle Hendricks has been riding a hot hand lately. Not allowing more than four earned runs in his past 11 starts. Today was an absolute seven-inning gem, in which Kyle shuts down Reds offense allowing just two hits and one walk on the day and striking out five. What makes this start even more impressive is the weather conditions were not ideal for a pitcher. And we saw that in Homer Baily who gave up six runs, three earned. However, Kyle seems to thrive off warm weather conditions, unlike most pitchers who hate the thought of facing a lineup on a day like today. Especially one that’s as dangerous as the Reds lineup. Kyle’s getting hot at the right moment, as is the rest of the rotation. Giving up just 18 runs in their past ten games. Things should get interesting this final month.

Offense Dominates Homer Baily And Reds Pitching Staff

Another dominant offensive outing from the Cubs granted it’s against a weaker pitching rotation in the Reds. However, a team still has to go out and hit like the Cubs were hitting this series. With Kris Bryant making a rehab start tomorrow and will hopefully be back very soon. Which will only add to what the offense is fully capable of producing.  Jason Heyward proved to be the primary driving force behind the offense today. Going 4-4 with two RBIs and three runs scored. Jason Heyward has played very well this season and has finally started contributing consistently. it’s only a matter of time before the Cubs are firing on all cylinders
