Players Of The Week
We’re onto Cincinnati—or should we say we’re onto Week 2 of the NFL preseason. Week 2 had a fair share of guys who came to perform. Snubs include Christian McCaffrey (Sorry Ed), Tom Brady, Sam Christian, and Jameis Winston.
However, a couple of guys went above and beyond, showcasing regular season form in Week 2 of the preseason. Here are the players of the week for the 2nd week of the preseason.
Josh Rosen
This was definitely the clearest choice for the week. This was the former UCLA QB’s coming out party. Rosen was 10 for 16 for 107 yards and a TD. However, Rosen’s most impressive play might have been an incompletion.
Rosen threw a ball that was batted in the air by Saints defensive lineman Devaroe Lawrence. Instead of making a bad play worst, Rosen bats the floating pigskin to the ground.
Josh Rosen was smart to bat down the tipped pass. Good football IQ for a rookie #AZvsNO

This play showcased that Rosen is not only as accurate as they come—but that he has a special wherewithal that only a few great QBs have. As a result, Rosen put together the best Week 2 of the rookie QBs.
James Washington
When fondling with the idea of the rich getting richer, what comes to mind? The Golden State Warriors snagging Kevin Durant in the 2016 offseason? Alabama and the job Nick Saban does in recruiting every year? Those are all very valid answers; almost as valid as the Pittsburgh Steelers and the luck they’ve had drafting wide receivers.
The Steelers always have a top-notch receiving core—and after drafting JuJu Smith-Schuster in last year’s draft, the consensus was they wouldn’t need to focus on the position going into this offseason.
Well, head coach Mike Tomlin and the Steelers organization pulled a fast one with that idea and snagged OSU receiver James Washington 60th overall. Washington then proceeds to torch the monotonous Green Bay Packers secondary, reeling in five catches for 114 yards and two TDs. It looks like secondaries in the AFC North may need to bring in the cavalry.
Jake Kumerow
Washington wasn’t the only receiver to shine in that Super Bowl XLV “rematch.” Jake Kumerow also had a day of his own, racking up 114 yards and a TD on only three catches. The difference between Kumerow and Washington however, is that you might not have known who Kumerow was prior to this game.
The former Wisconsin-Whitewater product did not hear his name called on draft night—yet he’s currently the preseason leader in yards (190-1st) and TDs (2-Tied-1st). This is the stuff that dreams are made of.

Nate Sudfeld
Week 2 of the preseason showcased many great QB performances. However, few had the numbers of Philadelphia Eagles’ third-string QB Nate Sudfeld. The former Indiana University QB stacked up the stat sheets with 312 yards and three TDs.
QB play shouldn’t just be judged primarily of stats; however, 300+ yards and 3 TDs are much too impressive to leave off the list. Sudfeld’s night was highlighted by this beauty—rounding up the Week 2’s players of the week.
