5 Stars Who Are The MLB’s Future!
In my opinion there are three types of MLB players in terms of age. There are the players past their prime, usually age 31+. There are the players in the prime of their career, usually age 24-29. Then there are the players still developing into their prime, and they have a lot of room to grow. These players are usually age 19-23. These are the players we will be talking about today, players with a lot of young talent. There are five players ages 19-21 who are playing like many players in their prime, and they are the future of the MLB. These five players are Ozzie Albies, Ronald Acuña Jr., Juan Soto, Gleyber Torres, and Vladimir Guerrero Jr. Without a doubt, these players will be the MLB’s future stars. We will be going through these five players and talking about why they will be just so good.
Ozzie Albies – 21 Years Old
At only 21 years old, Ozzie led the MLB in extra-base hits in June, batted second for the Atlanta Braves, an all around young team, and has really lit it up. He is also 10th in the MLB with 135 hits. He is in some extremely good company that includes Mookie Betts, Manny Machado, and even teammates Nick Markakis and Freddie Freeman. With some room still to grow, I’m terrified to see what this guy does at age 25 or 26.
Gleyber Torres – 21 Years Old
The future Cubs shortstop was dealt to New York for closer Aroldis Chapman in the summer of 2016. So it turns out the Yankees stole that trade, because Torres has been unstoppable this year (and they got Chapman back). His main focus has been driving in runs, as he has 52 RBIs this season. He also holds an average batting line at .258. This guy sure will be fun to watch as the future young talent of the Bronx Bombers.
Ronald Acuña Jr. – 20 Years Old
So we get to the first guy that can’t even drink. At only 20 years of age, Ronald Acuña Jr. is on a tear especially as of late. He has been leading off for the Braves and has been consistently getting on base for Freeman and Markakis to drive him in. He has a .288 average with 19 home runs and 43 RBIs. To make this even better, he started the season off hurt, so those stats aren’t even for a full season. This guy will also be up there when it comes to top young players, but this is the best list in a very long time when it comes to the MLB’s future.
Juan Soto – 19 Years Old
Can you believe it, we are now talking about TEENAGERS! This guy is only four years older than me. Juan Soto wasn’t even the Nationals’ top prospect coming into this season. That was Victor Robles. But make no mistake, this guy made his mark. He has batted third for a Nationals team that has really struggled. However, this guy has batted .301. Can you believe a teenager is batting .301 against some players twice his age? For context, when Bartolo Colon was a rookie, it would still take two years before Juan Soto was even born. That is just amazing. Just like all of these guys, the sky is the limit.
Vladimir Guerrero Jr. – 19 Years Old
This guy is the only one of the five that isn’t in the MLB yet, but that is 100% going to change. Vladdy has been on another level in AAA. He has batted .406, yes .406. When you are the son of an MLB legend, you have a lot to live up to and Vladdy sure has done that. I made a separate article just on this guy. It is one of my favorite articles, so I highly recommend checking it out after this article.
Other Young Talents
So there are other young stars besides these five guys, such as Padres catching prospect Francisco Mejia or Nationals’ center field prospect Victor Robles. These guys will also be very good, but they weren’t good enough to make the cut. Nonetheless, they will be the MLB’s future.
