Chicago Bulls: The Franchise’s All Time Great Starting Five

The Chicago Bulls were established as a NBA team on January 16th, 1966. After 52 years, they’ve produced six NBA Championships and produced arguably the greatest player of all-time in Michael Jordan. They’ve also had multiple all-stars like Scottie Pippen, who is a hall of famer and all-star Horace Grant. Only a select few have what it takes to be mentioned as one of the best to ever put on a Bulls uniform. Here is the Bulls all time greatest starting lineup.

Chicago Bulls All Time Starting lineup

Center: Artis Gilmore

7 Seasons, 19.3 PPG, 11.1 RPG, 2.4 BPG, .582 FG%

Nickname the A-Train, center Artis Gilmore surprisingly was a force from the jump. Gilmore averaged 18.6 points and 13 rebounds per game. He was an all star four times with the Bulls and led the league in field goal percentage twice in a Bulls uniform. He’s known for his baby hook shots and left handed dunks.

Power Forward: Bob Love

9 Seasons, 21.3 PPG, 6.8 RPG

Bob Love helped lead the Bulls from 39 wins to 51 during the 1970-71 season. That year, Love played in 81 games and he averaged 25.2 points and 8.5 rebounds per game. The next season, he posted a career best 25.8 points per game and the Bulls won 57 games. He was the Bulls franchise leading scorer before Jordan and Pippen came along and surpassed him.

Small Forward: Scottie Pippen

12 seasons, 17.7 PPG, 6.7 RPG, 5.3 APG, 2.0 SPG

One of the top ten Small Forwards of all-time and one of the fifty greatest player in NBA in history is the Bulls greatest three. Pippen is arguably the most underrated player ever because he played under the shadow of arguably the greatest player of all time. He’s arguably the best perimeter player defender of all time and the first player that could guard multiple positions. Pippen was named an All-Star seven times and eight times as a member of the All-NBA teams. Although he was an all around player, defense was his calling card and he made eight defensive teams in his career.

Shooting Guard: Michael Jordan

13 seasons, 30.1 PPG, 6.3 RPG, 5.3 APG, 2.3 SPG

Here is no surprise who’s the greatest to ever put on a Bulls uniform. Jordan is the best shooting guard ever being and he’s arguably the greatest player of all-time. He’s a six-time NBA champion with the Bulls. Jordan averaged 31.5 points per game on 50 % shooting in a Bulls uniform.

He’s the most accomplished player of all-time. Jordan won five MVP awards, six NBA Finals MVP’s, a Defensive Player of the Year award, and a Rookie of the Year award. He also was a three time steals leader with ten scoring titles. He leads the franchise in–among other categories– points, rebounds, assists, and steals.

Point Guard: Derrick Rose

7 seasons, 19.7 PPG, 6.2 APG

Although injuries hindered Derrick Rose from being one of the best point guards ever, he became a local superstar. He became the youngest MVP ever. He’s a three time all-star and gave the fans a show with his quickness, dunks and his amazing crossover. Watching Rose play in his prime gave fans the opportunity to witness an electric scorer. If only he could have stayed healthy, he would’ve had a chance to go down as the third best player in Bulls franchise history.
