The Best FIFA Football Awards 2018 Nominations
London, England -The short-list of The Best FIFA Football Awards 2018 nominations have been announced by FIFA. Every player and manager in the list is below.
The award is given for their respective achievements during the period from July 3, 2017 to July 15, 2018. However, for female awards the dates are from August 7, 2017 to May 24, 2018. In addition, each list was compiled by a panel of experts of each category. The panel includes football representing different FIFA and external football stakeholders. However, six confederations representative for the women’s vote.
Also, members of the public can now vote for their personal top three best players and managers. This includes, the top pick receiving five points, the second three and the third one.
Nevertheless, the Voting Period will be from July 24, 2018 until August 10, 2018.
According to FIFA’s official website, “The fan vote will be equally weighted alongside the votes of other key members of the footballing community – namely journalists, national team coaches and captains.
“The three finalists for each award will be revealed at a later date, with all award winners revealed at The Best FIFA Football Awards show in London on 24 September.”
1. The Best FIFA Men’s Player
- Cristiano Ronaldo (POR) – Real Madrid
- Won the 2017/18 UEFA Champions League with Real Madrid. In addition, finished 2017/18 as the Champion League’s top scorer (15).
- Kevin De Bruyne (BEL) – Manchester City
- Helped Belgium to bronze at Russia 2018. In addition, was a key part of Manchester City side which had most wins and points in an English Premier League season.
- Antoine Griezmann (FRA) – Atletico Madrid
- Won FIFA World Cup with France, scored in the Final. He additional, lifted the UEFA Europa League trophy with Atletico Madrid.
- Eden Hazard (BEL) – Chelsea
- Inspired Belgium to bronze at Russia 2018. Also, claimed the FIFA World Cup adidas Silver Ball.
- Harry Kane (ENG) – Tottenham Hotspur
- Won the Adidas Golden Boot at Russia 2018. Additionally, he helped England to their best World Cup finish since 1990. He also amassed 30 goals during 2017/18 English Premier League season.
- Kylian Mbappe (FRA) – Paris Saint-Germain
- Won the FIFA World Cup and FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award. Additionally, he became second youngest player after Pele to score in a World Cup Final.
- Lionel Messi (ARG) – Barcelona
- Won a league and cup double with Barcelona. In addition, finished Spain’s La Liga campaign as top goal scorer (34)
- Luka Modric (CRO) – Real Madrid
- Captained Croatia to their first ever FIFA World Cup Final. Also, won the Adidas Golden Ball at Russia 2018
- Mohamed Salah (EGY) – Liverpool
- Helped Liverpool to UEFA Champions League final in maiden season. Also, netted 32 goals during English Premier League campaign, setting new scoring record
- Raphael Varane (FRA) – Real Madrid
- Helped France to World Cup victory at Russia 2018. Also, helped keep four clean sheets in seven World Cup games
