Andriy Lunin Presented At Real Madrid

Andriy Lunin was presented as a new Real Madrid goalkeeper Monday at the Santiago Bernabeu. The presentation of the Ukrainian international is the third for the Spanish club in preparation for the new season.

Significantly, it is the second of the three new signings to be a teenager. Whether ‘Los Blancos’ will keep the talented young shot stopper or loan him out, is yet to be determined.

In the event that current number one Keylor Navas or number two Kiko Casilla depart, Lunin will probably compete for a starting spot between the posts. Ultimately, the decision lies with new coach Julen Lopetegui.

At only 19 years of age, Andriy Lunin has already made his debut at senior level for club and country. “Real is my favorite team. Of course, I would like to be there some day, to play for that club at that level,” said the goalkeeper back in 2017.

Perhaps the time has come for his dream to be fulfilled. However, with the European champions rumored to be pursuing Thibaut Courtois, Andriy may need to wait a little longer.

At the presentation, club president Florentino Perez added “Lunin is a player who shares those ambitions. Many clubs wanted him but I knew where he wanted to be.”

“Thank you for choosing Real Madrid in front of other important options. You arrive to add your quality to a team that will help you grow and win,” Perez concluded.
