Minneapolis Miracle Wins Best Moment At ESPYs
Do you believe in miracles? It is hard to comprehend the emotions in the stadium when Stefon Diggs took the ball in the end zone for a 61-yard touchdown in the NFC Divisional Round Game, known as the Minneapolis Miracle. However, when you listen to the radio call of Minnesota Vikings announcer Paul Allen, you can understand how people were feeling in the stadium.
Moment
The seconds ticking down, the game on the line. The Vikings on their own 39-yard line. When it seems all Viking hope is lost, a Stefon Diggs out route changed it all. Case Keenum is in the shotgun. As he takes the snap, he drops back. The Saints are in zone. Diggs is running an out route on his right side. The safeties sag back, but the corners stay fairly shallow.
Keenum passes to Diggs, but safety Marcus Williams closes fast. Diggs comes down with the ball about to get lit up by Williams. Williams goes for the legs! Diggs spins out of the tackle, and he’s gone. Saints ran, but there was no stopping that man. It’s a Minneapolis Miracle, and the Vikings are in the NFC Championship. The crowd erupts. Diggs’ helmet goes airborne as he celebrates in the end zone.

They’d beaten the Saints, who had taken them down in the NFC Championship eight years prior. The fans were in a frenzy. Diggs summed up the emotions in the stadium pretty well when he said in his post game interview,
“I still don’t know what just happened.”
Feelings of awe and pride filled players and fans as the adrenaline reached its peak. It was a moment to be recreated by young kids for ages to come.
