Elias Lindholm Signs With The Calgary Flames
The Calgary Flames continue to bolster their lineup for the upcoming season. It seems that Brad Treliving is not done after signing James Neal. Elias Lindholm signed a six-year deal worth $29.1 million with an annual average of $4.85 million. Lindholm was acquired through a trade with Carolina that sent him and defenseman Noah Hanifin to Calgary in exchange for Michel Ferland and Dougie Hamilton on June 23 of this year. As a result, Johnny Gaudreau and company are going to get some much-needed help going into next season.
The Swedish forward started his career in Carolina as he was drafted 5th overall in 2013. Immediately upon his arrival to Raleigh, he was thrown into the lineup and made an impact. On October 10, 2013, Lindholm became the youngest player to score an NHL goal, beating Gabriel Landeskog of the Colorado Avalanche by 13 days. However, he would only go on to play 58 games in his first NHL season. Despite not playing a full season, Lindholm finished his first season with 21 points; and he would only go up from here. The Following season he would finish with 39 points and he hasn’t dropped below it since. In addition, Lindholm is coming off another career year, finishing last season with 44 points, this includes 16 goals. At only 23 years old, Lindholm still has a lot to prove and will heat up the Flames come next season.
