Knicks Kevin Knox Unleashed On NBA Summer League
NBA draft night is the night that every young basketball player dreams of, and Kevin Knox is no exception. As the New York Knicks took the clock, NBA commissioner Adam Silver seized the podium and announced Knox as the 9th overall pick of the draft. Cheers filled the Barkley Center when the Kentucky small forward dawned his Knicks hat, but Knicks fans proved to be unsatisfied, expressing their fondness for (SF) Micheal Porter. NBA draft interviewer, Taylor Rooks asked “What do you want to say to the fans who were booing you”? Knox responded, “I’m gonna use it as motivation and turn the boos into cheers”.
Knox Summer League Debut
During the Knicks and Hawks summer league matchup in Las Vegas, Knox proved to be a man of his word. Less than two minutes into the game, the former Kentucky Wildcat went on a fast break and threw down a monster dunk, scoring the Knicks first points and provoked the crowd to their feet. Watching Knox dunk over opposing defenders and grabbing significant rebounds, you couldn’t help but notice the glimpses of his superstar potential. Willing his team to victory, Knox put up 22 points and 8 rebounds against the Hawks and 19 points with 5 rebounds against the Jazz.
New York Knicks, Future Of The East
So far, the 6’9″ stretch forward is shaping up to be a solid choice for the Knicks. Considering his size and ability to get to the rack, Knox will be the key for the Knicks perimeter scorers, and with no solid star coming off the bench behind Tim Hardaway Jr, the path for growth seems wide open for Knox. Absent from the playoffs the last five years, the Knicks seem to be moving in the direction of becoming a contender, and with rumors of Kyrie and Jimmy Butler interest, they maybe on the road to becoming a champion.
