Jim Ross Injury and Update Following Ringside Bump
WWE Hall of Famer, Jim Ross, took quite a bump during NJPW’s G1 Special at the Cow palace. In fact, JR told his Twitter followers that the bump was not part of a storyline or the show. He mentions that he thinks he may have broken a rib because he couldn’t sleep nor put his bag in an overhead compartment without feeling pain:
For the record, the ‘bump’ I took at ringside at #G1SanFrancisco was not storyline driven matter nor was it discussed.
I think I broke a rib.

The injury took place when the ringside barricade smashed into his announce booth, which sent Good ‘ol JR straight to the floor. He mentions the pain he’s in once again in a later Tweet:
Finally arriving in #Norman. 10 hrs @AmericanAir today. My ribs are punishing me! ? pic.twitter.com/IP9zwnMvzI

John Pollock reported this morning that Jim Ross was evaluated in the emergency room.
Rumors suggest that JR was upset with NJPW officials because he had asked them to keep the wrestlers away from his area. Supposedly, this was because he knew that NJPW often took their battles into the audience and around the arena. Regardless, there was a spot that took place right in front of Jim Ross, which accidentally tipped the barricades and hit him as collateral damage. JR has also mentioned that because of his injury, he will need to cancel three appearances.

I hope JR heals up quickly! I understand that accidents can happen at any given moment in wrestling, but this was certainly avoidable. If JR really did ask for the show to keep away from his announce booth, they should have honored that wish. No knock against JR, but it is a given that with age, it is much easier for bones to break.
Hopefully, this is something that not just NJPW, but all companies take into consideration before performing dangerous spots in front of non-competitors.
