Brook Lopez Decides To Sign With The Bucks
After one season as with the Los Angeles Lakers, Brook Lopez is on the move again. This time, Lopez chose to join the Milwaukee Bucks. The contract is for one year, $3.3 million. Considering how Lopez made $22.6 million last season, the Bucks got a huge discount.
As his lone season with the Lakers, his production was down. He averaged 13 points, four rebounds, and 1.3 blocks per game. He also averaged 23.4 minutes per game this past season. His role was reduced on a rebuilding Lakers squad that was trying to develop the young talent they have.
Lopez has career averages of 17.9 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 1.7 blocks in 31 minutes per game. Standing at seven feet tall and weighing a solid 260 pounds, he’s still one of the few true centers in the league. He’s a true post scorer with a nice mid range shot. He also has added a three point shot to his game, which he relies on a bit too much at times. That might be a reason why his shooting percentage was down last year.
The Bucks can expect an instant low post threat that they’ve needed. If he starts will be a question though. Lopez has nice touch around the hoop and can creates driving lanes for Giannis Antetokounmpo to get easier shots. He does have a history of foot issues, so the sixth man role might be a better role with him.
