Why Ronaldo Would Leave Real Madrid: Three Reasons

It’s a familiar story for Real Madrid in what appears to be a yearly sequence. Every summer there is news linking Cristiano Ronaldo with a move to another club. Be that as it may, every August the Portuguese turns up for training and a new season with the Spanish club.

Despite that, the soccer world buzzes with interest at the latest rumor as if it was an entirely new experience. Almost no one can resist the anticipation of the greatest ‘Galactico’ finally moving on. However, this summer the rumored destination is Juventus. The Italian club joins the list of Manchester United, PSG, Manchester City, MLS and Chinese Super League.

Why So Many Rumors?

There are however, reasons for so many rumors circulating. Not every story is a dishonest attempt to get clicks and views or sell papers. The current Ballon d’Or holder himself never loses an opportunity to stir controversy in media interviews. Several times, the striker has publicly hinted at a potential transfer.

Additionally, club President Perez is not afraid to make transfers and the organization is not famous for loyalty. The world’s richest club became so by knowing when to cash in and when to pay. Not to mention, a rumor may sometimes seem very unlikely but turn out to be true and it would be unwise to dispel all of them immediately.

With this in mind, lets take a look at the 3 reasons why Ronaldo could in fact leave Real Madrid at any moment.

Money

The four time Champions League winner wants one thing. That is to win everything and be at the top at all times. For that reason, it is very important that he feel respected and appreciated. Cristiano feels that if the Madrid board truly believes he is the best player in the world, they will pay him like it. At the moment, the talented striker knows that he earns less than both Messi and Neymar.

While understanding that there is a legitimate ongoing debate about who is the better between himself and Messi, the Portuguese wants to be paid the same wages. After winning ‘Los Blancos’ another Champions League as top scorer in 2018, Ronaldo will feel even more justified in his demands.

Ego

While there is money, correspondingly there is ego. Cristiano works extremely hard in what can only be described as an obsessive lifestyle. He is an example of fitness, aiming to be the world’s best and sacrificing much on and off the pitch. This was humorously displayed by his former teammate’s recent interview. For this reason, the Madeira born man is easily annoyed when his position as star and goal scorer is taken for granted. The most recent example of his insecurity being the post match interview of the Champions League final in May.

Speaking to the press after Gareth Bale’s brace stole the spotlight, Ronaldo hinted at moving on from the Spanish giants. It appeared to be an emotional reaction to rob Bale of the moment and remind fans who the ‘real’ star is. Similarly, when there are rumors of Madrid pursuing Neymar and Salah, the now 33 year old goalscorer feels unappreciated. Should the Spanish club not do or say enough to please him, Ronaldo will find a place where he is treated like the very best.

Taxes

Perhaps the least powerful reason, the frustrating issue of taxes is something Cristiano would be happy to leave behind. Threatened with prison time and described as an unfair attack by the Spanish authorities, the Portuguese striker employed former José Antonio Choclán to defend him. The Portugal attacker knows Italian taxes are less for soccer players and tax authorities may treat him better. Especially since he pleased innocence.

Also defending the Madrid striker was Manuel de Vincente-Tutor, who is an expert in tax affairs. He argued that the authorities arguments regarding Ronaldo’s tax fraud are incorrect. Despite this, authorities pressed on and the player finally accepted a ‘prison sentence’ and $21.8 mil fine. However, the striker will most likely not see the inside of a prison, serving the sentence on probation.

Conclusion

Time will tell if Real Madrid’s greatest ever player will indeed make a summer move to Juventus. In the meantime, one can only watch the headlines with anticipation. With the Portuguese’s World Cup now over, it feels like its only a matter of time before there is confirmation or not.
