NBA Free Agency Frenzy – The Rundown
FREE AGENCY, BIG SIGNINGS, AND POSSIBLE TRADE TALKS
NBA
July 1st is the official day the off season begins. There is a lot of rumors swirling around about where the players are going and possible trades. Let’s look at the top 10 players on the market right now.
1. Lebron James
Player option/SF/Cleveland Cavaliers
Arguably the best player on the planet along with Kevin Durant is the biggest player out there on the market. There have been talks of him signing with the Lakers but I honestly can’t see him leaving Cleveland again. With the new rookie Sexton and a few acquisitions there may be a high chance he stay.
2. Kevin Durant
Player option/SF/Golden State Warriors
I expect Durant to resign with the Warriors. After winning back to back championships he probably wants to win more and staying in Golden state gives him the best chance.
3. Chris Paul
Unrestricted/PG/Houston Rockets
After finally reaching the conference finals for the first time in his career and possibly a finals trip had it not been for the hamstring injury, the backcourt duo of him and Harden has been wonderful. I don’t see Paul signing with another team.
4. Paul George
Player option/SF/Oklahoma City Thunder
One of the best two way players in the game, OKC will try everything in their power to bring him back. George has stated he wants to play in LA so we will see how that goes.
5. Demarcus Cousins
Unrestricted/C/New Orleans Pelicans
Now the question is, will N.O. give the Cousins the max? Especially after the Achilles injury. It will be hard to make a decision on somebody his size after that type of injury. Look for him to be traded.
6. DeAndre Jordan
Player option/C/Los Angeles Clippers
With Jordan almost being traded to the Cavaliers last year, We can see the Clippers are trying to reboot and start all over. So I project the Clippers letting him walk.
7. Clint Capela
Restricted/C/Houston Rockets
Probably one of the most important defenders on the Rockets, displaying so much energy and explosiveness on both ends. The Rockets will most likely throw the money at him to stay.
8. Aaron Gordon
Restricted/PF/Orlando Magic
Orlando’s best player, I can’t imagine Orlando not matching any offers thrown his way.
9. Isaiah Thomas
Unrestricted/PG/Los Angeles Lakers
Being that he played coming off hip surgery he should be lower on the list but we all his potential and how much of a good player he is when 100% healthy. It’s difficult to project if he stay or leave depending on what type of role he plays on the team.
10. Julius Randle
Restricted/PF/Los Angeles Lakers
One of Lakers best players and most improved, he has proven to be a valuable asset for the Lakers. The Lakers will be looking to resign him.
