Robert Turbin Is In Hot Water With The Indianapolis Colts
The Indianapolis Colts backfield has taken a hit. Running back Robert Turbin will miss the first five games of the regular season. The NFL says it’s because Turbin tested positive for PEDs through a urine sample.
The Seattle Seahawks drafted Turbin in the 2012 NFL Draft. This is the first time Turbin has been punished for anything in the NFL. He’s been clean as a whistle until now. What do the Colts do now?
Turbin Confesses To The Positive PEDs Test
We’ve seen NFL players fight the system before. New England Patriots Julian Edelman is currently appealing a four-game PEDs suspension. No one knows how it will play out for Edelman because appeals can go either way.
Turbin tweeted from his account and spoke about the suspension. It’s clear from his statement that the positive test is not a fluke. In his statement, Turbin admits to making a mistake and wants the team along with Colt fans to know he’s let them down.
Expect The Colts Backfield To Take Advantage Of Turbin’s Absence
The league is cutthroat, and Turbin is going to learn that very soon. Indianapolis got rid of running back Frank Gore in the offseason and were expecting to increase Turbin’s carries. That won’t be happening anymore because there are other backs ready for their turn.
For example, the Colts drafted two rookie running backs just this past NFL Draft. Nyheim Hines and Jordan Wilkins will take advantage of their chances. Indianapolis also has Christine Michael and Marlon Mack with years of experience under their belts.
Expect the Colts make a big decision on Turbin very soon. The Colts backfield doesn’t lack runners. It wouldn’t be shocking to see the Colts move on from Turbin and give his roster spot to someone else.
