Bradham Will Miss Week 1 Due To One Game Suspension

The Philadelphia Eagles will play against the Atlanta Falcons without one of their vocal leaders on defense. Eagles linebacker Nigel Bradham will miss the season opener because of a one game suspension. This suspension is a big blow to the Eagles defense and puts Philly in a bit of a predicament.

Philly already has a depleted linebacker core, and Bradham’s suspension certainly makes things worse. Jordan Hicks is coming off a severe injury and Paul Worrilow’s season ended back in May.

Why Is Bradham Getting A One Game Suspension?

At first, the reason behind Bradham’s suspension wasn’t revealed. Bradham tweeted from his personal Twitter account and addressed the situation. The linebacker admitted to the suspension having relation to a 2016 July incident that already has been resolved.

The July incident happened in Miami and it involved a hotel worker. Bradham apologized for the one game suspension and wants to move on from it. After signing a five-year, $40 million contract with the Eagles, the linebacker knows he’s off to a rough start to the 2018 NFL season.

Eagles Can Mask Bradham’s Absence Against Atlanta

One of the good things about having a talented roster is other players can pick up the slack. This Eagles defense still has one of the best defensive lines in the NFL and a secondary that bends but doesn’t break.

The defense is talented enough to overcome Bradham’s absence. It’s only a one game suspension, and then he will be back for the rest of the season.  I do not doubt that the Eagles offense will do their thing.

It doesn’t matter if it’s Carson Wentz or Nick Foles under center, this offense can score points. Another thing worth mentioning is the Eagles have home-field advantage against the Falcons. Philly only lost one home game last season. The Falcons have also lost their previous two games at the Linc and have yet to beat the Eagles in the Doug Pederson era.
