Wendell Carter Jr. Drafted 7th Overall In The 2018 NBA Draft By Chicago Bulls
The Fairburn, GA native played his collegiate career at the prestigious Duke University under the tutelage of Coach Mike Krzyzewski. Carter attended Pace Academy in Atlanta, GA and was later drafted by the Blue Devils where he the No. 4 overall recruit and No. 1 power forward in the 2017 high school class.
While At Duke
The 6-10 Center started 37 games as a true freshman for Duke. He average 13.5 points, 9.1 rebounds and 2.1 blocks a contest. He also shot 56 percent from the floor and hit 41 percent of his threes.
In addition, he finished second all-time among Duke freshman in rebounds (355), blocked shots (76) and double-doubles (16), via ESPN.
Following Duke’s loss in the 2018 NCAA Men’s Basketball Tournament, Carter announced his intention to forgo his final three seasons at Duke.
“I want to thank Duke University, my coaches and teammates for helping me so much, not only on the court, but off it as well,” said Carter. We’re all brothers, we all have each other’s’ backs. I’m really going to miss being around my friends, but I’m really going to cherish the moments we had together. I’m very excited and very happy to say I was part of something special here at Duke.”
Strengths
The 250-pounder has the body of an NBA player. He’s also an excellent rebounder, good rim protector and a strong on-the-ball defender. In addition, he can hit the occasional trey while running the floor and blocking shots.
Several analyst have considered him with similar skills as Al Horford.
