Collin Sexton Drafted eighth Overall By The Cavaliers
The 6 foot 3 Gaurd out of The University Of Alabama, Collin Sexton drafted eighth overall by The Cleveland Cavaliers. I don’t know if this move came as a shock to anyone else; however, it got me pretty good. Sexton, the 3x Wooden Award winner, has a possibility of bringing a lot to the Cavaliers. Especially with Lebron James most likely heading somewhere else in the offseason. Cleveland made their first-round draft pick a good one. Now the only thing left is to see if he lives up to the hype around his name.
What does Will Sexton bring To Cleveland?
The point of a draft is to hit on the weak points in your team to make them stronger. Collin Sexton will bring a deadly three-point shooter to Cleveland, something they didn’t do very well in the regular season. Averaging 19 points a game this past season, The Cavaliers need someone who can flat out score and create space on the court. Along with his ability to shoot the three, he also has impressive ball-handling skills. Which also makes him a threat in the paint and driving. There’s a lot of positives that can be said about this kid; however, he still needs to make the team let alone become a starter.
First Year Projections
Being drafted eighth overall will bring a lot of attention and hype around the name. Which in some players can be too overwhelming and they crack under pressure. However, some players thrive off the pressure, and it makes them better. So, what category does Collin Sexton fall into in this situation? I’m not going to sit here and say “He’s going to be the best thing since Lebron James.” I’m not going to see he’s not going to have a great career. Sexton to me seems like a guy that could go either way depending on the team he starts out on. And a team like Cleveland could be the team that can help him cement himself as a household name in the NBA.
