Five Barcelona Players That Are Likely To Be Sold This Summer
After a fairly disastrous summer transfer window last year, Barcelona have proven many of their doubters wrong by winning the Spanish domestic double last season. However, there are some players in their squad that no longer have a place in the Camp Nou dressing room. The Catalan giants will be looking to trim down their squad this summer by selling these players. Here are the 5 players that are most likely to leave the Spanish champions during this transfer window.
1. Douglas
The 27-year-old Brazillian right-back Douglas is probably the most likely to leave the club out of the players in this list. Douglas was signed by Barcelona back in 2014 from Sao Paulo for 5.5m euros. Since then, he has made only 3 appearances for the Catalan club. He spent most of his time on the bench during his first season at the club, followed by two one-season-long loan spells at Sporting Gijon and Benfica respectively. He has never really been in the plans of Barca and has reportedly told the club that he wants to be sold during this transfer window.
2. Aleix Vidal
Another right-back, Aleix Vidal was also bought back in 2014 from Sevilla for 18m euros. He was completely ostracized by the manager Luis Enrique after his debut for the club. Vidal opened his league account for Barcelona in January 2017, that too only by profiting from the injury of the first-choice right-back Sergi Roberto. Till this day, he has made only 30 appearances for the Catalan club. The Spaniard has reportedly agreed personal terms with the Italian club Inter Milan. It seems more likely than ever that he will leave Barca this summer.
3. Lucas Digne
Digne was signed by Barca in 2016 from PSG for 16.5m euros. The French left-back has been linked with a move to the German champions Bayern Munich. The move will reportedly be a swap move involve the Bayern midfielder Thiago. Barca will reportedly play 60m euros and Digne for Bayern’s Thiago. After getting only a few minutes last season and the probable promotion of the Barca B youngster Miranda to the first team, Digne seems all set to leave the Camp Nou.
4. Rafinha
One from the youth ranks of Barcelona, Rafinha is a talented midfielder whose progress has been constantly stalled by recurring injuries. The 25-year-old couldn’t make any contribution to the team till January last season due to a serious injury. He ended up being loaned out to the Italian club Inter Milan in the last winter transfer window. Inter reportedly want to get the Brazilian’s services permanently. With the arrival of Philippe Coutinho, not much room can be seen for Rafinha in the Barca midfield as he looks all set to leave for another club.
5. Andre Gomes
Andre Gomes was brought in by Barcelona in 2016 from Valencia for a fee of 55m euros including add-ons. Ever since then, the 24-year-old Portuguese midfielder has been getting constantly criticised for his performances by the fans. He has never been able to cement his place in the starting XI of Barcelona. He was also dropped out of the squad of the Portuguese national team for the World Cup due to the lack of minutes he got last season. Gomes has been linked to a move to several Premier League clubs this summer. The arrival of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool only makes it more obvious that the time of Andre Gomes at Barcelona is coming to an end soon.
