Arsenal to appoint Unai Emery as new manager
London, England – Arsenal reportedly will announce Unai Emery as their next manager. However, former Gunners captain Mikel Arteta was a strong candidate to replace legendary coach Arsene Wenger.
Emery left Paris Saint-Germain after two seasons with the French club. the 46-year-old Spaniard won one Ligue 1 and four domestic cups with the club. In addition, Emery had previously coached Sevilla where he lead the club to three consecutive Europa League triumphs.
However, PSG did not renew his contract and opted to replace him with former Borussia Dortmund boss Thomas Tuchel.
In addition to Arteta, Patrick Vieira, Luis Enrique and Massimiliano Allegri had a link to the Gunners.
Is Emery the right manager for the job?
Despite having success at Sevilla and winning several Europa League titles, he has not been able to get over the hump other places.
