John Cena Speaks About Split from Nikki Bella
In one of the biggest swerves in WWE history, John Cena and Nikki Bella announced their split about a month ago. This split came as a shock to many, as the couple was set to get married on May 5, 2018. Their relationship has been heavily documented on E!’s Total Divas and then the spin-off, Total Bellas.
Although the couple has remained eerily silent on their social media accounts, John Cena was recently promoting his new film, Bumblebee when Entertainment Tonight approached him with a question regarding his split from Nikki. In the original video, you can clearly see his publicist heading to shut the interview down. But Cena went ahead with it anyway.
“It sucks,” John Cena stated bluntly. “There’s no other way to say it. I love Nicole with all my heart, and that’s that.”
The former WWE Champion also told the Associated Press that the split was “very tough. But that’s life. We all go through highs, we all go through lows. I’m going to get through it. I love her. I’ll always love her. The fact that my heart hurts for her — I know I was in love. So I’ll always have that.”

I still wonder sometimes whether this split is legitimate. On one hand, I recently re-watched the video of Brie giving birth to Birdie. When Nikki held her, you could just see that something was triggered. Nikki is going to want to have a child, someday. But John Cena won’t be able to provide that to her, and he’s told her that. To me, that’s something that could break a relationship.
Additionally, they literally never saw each other. Cena is always out and about doing movies, promotions, interviews, etc. Nikki has built an empire of her own, launching her wine company and clothing company alongside Brie.
However, it should be noted that on the last season of Total Bellas, there is a sneak peak of the upcoming season where Nikki and John actually do call off their wedding. The new season obviously hasn’t aired yet, and the wedding is indeed called off. This is curious timing. I wonder if it was originally planned much earlier, and they shoved it back. I also wonder if we’re still being swerved, and this is all to get people watching the new season.
Or, perhaps they have actually been on the rocks this entire time, hoping and praying for a miracle?
Whatever the case, I still wish them both the best.
