Top 25 Next Year?

Every year we see the top 25 for college football. How does it really work? Honestly, I don’t think anybody ever knows. Teams that deserve it never make it there. Here is a prediction of the Top 25 College Football teams for the 2019 season.

Top 25

1) Clemson

There is no surprise here. The Tigers of Clemson, South Carolina smashed Alabama Crimson Tide and became 2018 National Champions; making it the second championship in three years. Dabo Swinney lost the entire defensive line. Trevor Lawrence and Travis Entienne will return!

2) Alabama

Lost of all their key players. Tua Tagovailoa will return as quarterback.

3) Georgia

No playoff. No win against Texas in Sugar Bowl. Jake Fromm, and D’Andre Swift will return to play for the Bulldogs.

4) Ohio State

New chapter. New head coach Ryan Day, and a new quarterback Justin Fields.

5) Michigan

Jim Harbough is yet to beat Ohio State and make a CFP since joining in 2015. Wolverines lost to to Florida in the Peach Bowl. Shea Patterson will return as quarterback.

6) Oklahoma

Head coach Lincoln Riley gets contract extension. A possible Heisman trophy winner could make a return. Who you ask? Kyler Murray could return as quarterback.

7) Notre Dame

Failed to win against Clemson in the Cotton Bowl, to exceed to the National Championship. The Fighting Irish could make their way back to the CFP playoffs this year.

8) LSU

As head coach Ed Orgeron prepares for next season with Joe Burrow as quarterback, the Tigers could have an impressive year.

9) Texas

Sam Ehlinger will return for his third year as quarterback for the Longhorns.

10) Texas A&M

Quarterback Kellen Mond is a dark horse to win the Heisman. Texas won during the season in overtime, over Kentucky and LSU. The Aggies will take on Clemson in week 2, and host Alabama in mid October. Also the Aggies will close out the year with Georgia and LSU.

11) Florida

Dan Mullen found his star quarterback in the Peach Bowl. Felipe Franks will start as QB. Gators lost a lot of key players on defense, but that should not hurt them too bad.

12) Oregon

A Justin Herbert return for the Ducks will be huge. Herbert’s performance in the Redbox Bowl against Michigan State was outstanding. Head coach Mario Cristobal has an excellent 2019 recruiting class.

13) Auburn

The offense of Gus Malzahn is looking better since he took over. Much needed double digital scoring for him to consider to stick around with the Tigers.

14) Iowa State

Matt Campbell is one of the hottest names in college football and NFL. After a 1-3 start, Campbell turned the Cyclones into a Big 12 contender with freshman quarterback Brock Purdy.

15) Penn State

Tommy Stevens taking over as quarterback. Head coach James Franklin has plenty of talent returning on defense. Penn State has two goals this year, to beat Ohio State and Michigan.

16) Washington

Head coach Chris Peterson built the second tier powerhouse at Washington. Peterson will be without Jake Browning and Myles Gaskin. Jason Eason could be possible QB replacement.

17) Utah

Won a total of 9 games in 2018. A possible return for QB Tyler Huntley from a fractured collarbone. Zack Moss will return as running back, who averaged 6.1 yards per carry.

18) Wisconsin

It was a very sad year for the Badgers. Head coach Paul Chryst has a running back Jonathan Taylor returning. He is a possible Heisman candidate after running for 4,171 yards total in first two years.

19) Nebraska

Head coach Scott Frost looks for a potienal new quarterback in Adrian Martinez.

20) Missouri

The Tigers lost a lot of key players including quarterback Drew Lock. However, the offense will get a big boost with former Clemson quarterback Kelly Bryant will start.

21) Northwestern

Head coach Pat Fitzgerald was rumored to getting an NFL consideration. Clemson transfer Hunter Johnson will replace Clayton Thomson at quarterback.

22) Iowa

Kirk Ferentz’s team has won at least 8 games in the last four seasons. QB Nate Stanley return after having 26 touchdowns last season.

23) UCF

Undefeated all year till a loss to LSU in the Fiesta Bowl. Possible replacement for Darriel Mack Jr. QB McKenzie Milton may or may not return.

24) Army

Head coach Jeff Monken had a 11-2 season, and has won 3 straight bowl games. QB Kelvin Hopkins JR will return.

25) Washington State

QB transfer Gardner Minshew was a revelation for the program in 2018. Mike Leach looks forward to a great season.

What’s Next?

One team that was not part of the possible projection of the Top 25, was the West Virginia Mountaineers. With a new head coach Neal Brown, and with a new coaching staff, and a new quarterback West Virginia could dominate as well!
