College Football

In the world of college football anything can happen. Every year players transfer programs, which means  either looking for a better opportunity for more playing time or simply chasing a championship. The  University of Oklahoma Sooners football team; will be getting their third straight starting quarterback in three years. The new quarterback will be a very familiar face both to the Oklahoma fans and college football fans in general.

Jalen Hurts Transfers to Oklahoma

Jalen Hurts, the former starter for Nick Saban at the University of Alabama has officially announced that he’s transferring colleges, to play for head coach Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma.

This comes as no surprise for two reasons: one because he’s an Elite level qb that proved to be an absolute stud for the Crimson Tide before Tue Tagovailoa became starter.

The next reason is because he’s a perfect fit for an Oklahoma football program that has had back to back Heisman trophy winners.  Baker Mayfield, who is now the quarterback for the NFL’S Cleveland Browns. Then there was Kyler Murray, also a stud quarterback, who is also a baseball player which was picked in the very first round of the MLB Draft by the Oakland Athletics; he has also entered the NFL Draft officially. It will be interesting to see what happens with this past seasons’ Heisman winning qb and where he ends up.

How does Hurts’ Arrival affect Oklahoma?

I truly believe that Jalen Hurts, the backup quarterback from the Alabama Crimson Tide has a ton of upside and will accomplish amazing things under coach Lincoln Riley at Oklahoma.

In his career at Alabama,  he had 48 passing touchdowns and 23 rushing touchdowns  in three full seasons with the Crimson Tide. He also won two conference titles there, and will become the new starting quarterback and top recruit quarterback Spencer Rattler will have the chance to watch Hurts. Rattler will learn from him this upcoming season; where he will be Hurts’ successor and will be next in line for the starting job at Oklahoma.

The big question now is: Can Hurts and Oklahoma stick to it and dominate Alabama; and the other teams and win the National Championship next season?

Only time will tell, but as a diehard Sooners fan myself and just a big college football fan; I can’t wait to see what’s in store for the Sooners this year.
