The Camping World Bowl game came to an end with a win by Syracuse. What really happened down at the Camping World Stadium in Orlando, Florida? Let’s take look at the review when West Virginia Falls to Syracuse.

It was announced that Will Grier would not start as quarterback for the West Virginia Mountaineers. Jack Allison started for the first time, in his college career. Where was Will Grier you asked? Grier left the program after the season, to get ready and prep for the NFL Draft.

West Virginia

Quarterback Jack Allison had 277 passing yards and 1 interception. Running backs Kennedy McKoy and Martell Pettaway had a total of 21 carries for 134 yards. Wide receivers David Sills, TJ Simmons, and Kwincy Hall had a total of 11 receives for a total of 197 yards.

Syracuse

Quarterback Eric Dungey had 303 passing yards , 1 touchdown, 2 interceptions, and 17 carries for 22 yards. Running back Moe Neal had 8 carries for 42 yards, and 1 receive for 42 yards. Dontae Strickland had 9 carries for a total of 28 yards. Wide receivers Jamal Custis and Aaron Hackett had 12 receives for a total of 177 yards.

History Made in Orlando

West Virginia Mountaineer kicker Evan Stanley set a record for a bowl game. Stanley made history by kicking the most field goals ever made in a bowl game. The number was 4. He also set a record for the longest field goal made at 49 yards.

What’s Next?

West Virginia will finish the season 8-4. The Mountaineers lost Will Grier, Gary Jennings and David Sills. What will be in store for West Virginia next season? Will Jack Allison be the starting QB or will head coach Dana Holgorsen start new?

Syracuse will finish the season with an impressive 10-3 record. Quarterback Eric Dungey will not return due to being a senior. Where will this lead head coach Dino Babers and his Syracuse Orange?
