Clemson vs Syracuse College Football Preview
Clemson vs Syracuse. Last season, Syracuse pulled off the upset against #2 Clemson in the Carrier Dome. Kelly Bryant was knocked out in the first half, Clemson’s offense couldn’t move the ball, and Syracuse wore the Tigers out on defense to preserve the win on Friday the 13th. This year, Trevor Lawrence makes his first start against the Orange. Both teams roll into the matchup 4-0 looking to make a statement. Can Syracuse pull off the unthinkable again?
Clemson O vs Syracuse D
Clemson heads into the matchup averaging over 500 yards a game on offense. Syracuse has allowed almost 400 yards a game on defense. Trevor Lawrence will make his first start, but will the offense go or sputter out of the gate? Clemson has had a hard time kicking it into gear on offense early the past few games. Syracuse hopes the same is true this Saturday with a noon kickoff time. The Orange have kept most teams in check, but this will be a true test for their defense. Clemson is ultra talented on offense, so if Trevor Lawrence sets the tone like he has upon entering games, this could be a long day for the Orange.
Advantage: Clemson
Syracuse O vs Clemson D
Syracuse has been on fire offensively averaging over 500 yards a game. Clemson has averaged just under 252 yards a game allowed on defense. Senior QB Eric Dungey has been on fire this season leading the team in rushing and passing with 13 total touchdowns. Syracuse needs Dungey to play out of his mind like last year because this Tiger defense is even deeper than last season. The Orange need to do the same thing they did last year and manage what Texas A&M did: tire out the Tiger defense. Clemson has already shown that teams are not going to beat them on the ground. If Syracuse can make the Tigers pay in the air, they can make this a game. Unstoppable force, meet the unmovable object.
Advantage: Clemson
What will happen…
Syracuse plays Clemson at noon. I believe the Tigers start off better this week on offense, but Syracuse shows some fight early. Syracuse has a gamer in Eric Dungey, but Clemson ALSO has a gamer at QB in Trevor Lawrence. Expect a fun matchup but Clemson exacts revenge on the Orange and sends them back to New York with the L.

What do you think? Does Syracuse shock the world again?
