Clemson vs Georgia Tech College Football Preview

Clemson vs Georgia Tech. The Ramblin’ Wreck welcomes Clemson to Bobby Dodd Stadium Saturday afternoon. Georgia Tech has dropped two games after beating Alcorn State 41-0. Clemson has had moments of offensive and defensive struggle but walk into this matchup 3-0. The Tigers have bested the Yellow Jackets three years in a row. Head Coach Paul Johnson won the first four in a row against Clemson when Head Coach Dabo Swinney took over, but has dropped five of the last seven since 2011. Clemson has historically struggled at Bobby Dodd Stadium and Georgia Tech needs the voodoo to kick in once more if they want a better chance at victory this Saturday.

Clemson Tigers O vs Georgia Tech D

Tiger fans were spoiled with DeShaun Watson at the helm. Nowadays, Tiger fans are clamoring for Big 12 offensive stats. Georgia Tech welcomes in the Tigers to face a stout Yellow Jacket defense. Statistically speaking, Tech is only allowing a tad over 300 yards per game (passing and rushing against). The eyes will once again be on the Clemson quarterbacks. Kelly Bryant was knocked out of last week’s game; will he be fully utilized or will Trevor Lawrence continue to get more snaps? Although Tech’s defense has been decent, I see the Tigers being decent enough on offense to put this game out of reach early. Lets not forget that Pittsburgh scored most of their points in the first half. If Clemson offense can open up the running game with a balanced pass attack, forget about it.

Advantage: Clemson

Georgia Tech O vs Clemson D

Georgia Tech enters the contest almost averaging 400 rushing yards a game. Unfortunately, they run into the best run-stuffing defense in college football. Clemson has allowed just under 100 yards rushing a game. Welcome to assignment football 101, Clemson. The good news for the Tigers is that they have faced two option teams already this season in Furman and Georgia Southern. Georgia Tech needs to make the Tigers respect the passing game if they want to have a chance. Yes, Tech is going to get something rushing the ball, but I wouldn’t bet on their average per game. If Clemson stuffs the run and Tech struggles keeping the Tigers from crowding the box in the pass game, this game is over early.

Advantage: Clemson

What Happens?

Georgia Tech can hang their hats on the fact that they have won the last five out of six at home against Clemson. The bad news: Clemson will probably make it two in a row at Bobby Dodd Stadium. Clemson is just too talented and deep. Georgia Tech has struggled and the triple option is better when teams have to prep on short notice. While the Tech defense has respectable numbers, they have lost against the only two FBS teams they faced. Clemson and Georgia Tech is a rivalry game, but the bees are about to get wrecked. The Tigers go up big early and continue to build depth in the second half of the game as Georgia Tech plays hard to keep it respectable.

What do you think? Does Georgia Tech have a chance? Will Clemson finally decide on a full-time starter at QB?
