Chris Archer Traded To The Pirates For Meadows And Glasnow
The wild day that is the trade deadline is here and moves are being made. It has been reported the Rays starter Chris Archer has been traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates for Austin Meadows and Tyler Glasnow. If you ask me, each team did well in this trade. I thought the Pirates needed a pitcher and the Rays needed prospects. While Chris Archer hasn’t been great this year, he will still become the best starter on Pittsburg, and Meadows and Glasnow will be valuable pieces on the Tampa Bay rebuild.

How Chris Archer Affects the Pirates
This is a Pittsburgh team that wasn’t seen by anyone as a contender. They were in the middle of a rebuild; looking towards the future. Then, out of the blue, they racked up 10 straight wins and are looking for a wild card spot at only 3.5 games behind Arizona. They did lack a clear ace and obtained today; that ace being Chris Archer. If Chris Archer gets hot and the bats play like they have been over this hot stretch, watch out for the Bucs going forward. I actually think if this team makes another big run, they will make that wild card.
Medows and Glasnow
The Rays didn’t leave this trade empty-handed. Meadows is batting a very good .292 at only 23 years old. Glasnow is also a good pitcher with an okay 4.34 ERA. Being only 24 allows more than a lot of room to grow. The Rays need good young talent that they will build around for the future.
Who Won the Trade?
The question arises now, who won the trade. I personally think it was the Rays. They got two legit young guys, which they needed, that will develop into future stars. However, the Pirates have a top-five prospect set so they could afford to give them up, I think they could’ve given up less.
